Merlin Bird ID by Cornell Lab App Reviews

I love this app and use it regularly in my backyard and when camping. The only thing I wish it could do was help me identify birds by their call or song. Kind of like a Shazam for birdsong sphere you hold your phone up and it tells you what bird it is.

Ive nearly always found what Im looking for using this app. Im probably not taxing it all that much, just looking for the regular birds I see in my neighborhood, but it has never failed to ID a bird that Ive actually seen. Where its not as useful is with bird song. Ive tried using it to ID a bird that Ive only heard, not seen, and that didnt work. If there were a way to narrow down types of songs and then give you samples to listen to so you could ID the one you heard, that would make this app absolutely bullet-proof.

I like how it has sorted birds by region which is useful if you are travelling and are not familiar with birds of a certain area. It lacks the measurement of the bird, however, I can confirm the ID with the bird song. Very good app!

One of the best birding apps around for the novice birders

Fun app.

Great app! Very easy to use and I love the sounds of the birds as well. One point of improvement, the ability to save and list the birds already identified.

This is my favorite bird identification app. I love that this app offers bird songs and calls with the identification.

This app does exactly what it says it does. Wish you could submit a sighting after identifying or see other nearby sightings.

I love this app! I seriously dont know how I would go without it! I have always been curious about birds and bird watching, but was daunted by the prospect of having to learn 100000+ bird names, colors, calls, and habitats. Merlin Bird ID takes all that away! It is so well stocked by Cornells library of information that I rarely cannot find the bird I am looking for.

Just what every birder needs! So easy to use and I love that you can choose the size, color and hear the birds calls! Im hoping to use this app to be more familiar with bird calls and songs. Must get for anyone who loves birds or just simply wants to identity one!!

Easy to identify the birds on our feeders. Just wish they would show both male and female choices.

This is app so accurate! It is perfect for the amateur birder or just the curious minded. I love investigating what bird is in my yard, flying by, or hanging out!

Great for a quick ID or more in depth research

The Bird ID from info is wonderful. So much easier than any bird book. But for some reason it never shows a Catbird. I live in North Alabama and enter small, gray and black and seen in shrubs but no Catbird is listed.

I love that it has male, female, and juvenile plumage images, as well as sounds and descriptions. Its difficult to use if youre not on a wifi network though, as its either prohibitively slow or times out a lot.

Excellent for birds in the database, but would like to see more birds included in database.
